Our Purpose, Mission, and Vision

If you’re wondering “Who is Atlanta Road Alliance Church and what are they about?” then this is the pamphlet for you!  First, you need to know about who we are as a church community and what we will strive to be.  You can see this in our Purpose, Mission, and Vision statements all of which are principles derived straight from Scripture.

OUR PURPOSE...

“Why do we exist as a church?”

“We of the Atlanta Road Alliance Church exist to GLORIFY GOD by ENJOYING HIM.  This purpose will be the essence in our WORSHIP of Him, in the learning and application of His WORD, in lovingly serving the COMMUNITY of believers, and involvement in the great COMMISSION of spreading the supremacy of Jesus Christ for the joy of all people.”

Our passion at Atlanta Road Alliance Church is to glorify God by enjoying Him above all other things, including life itself. “Your steadfast love is better than life” (Psalm 63:3). The blood-shedding of Jesus bought for us all our enjoyment of God. We would only reject Him if Christ had not purchased the new covenant promises of transforming grace that saved us and gave us new eyes to see the all-satisfying glory of Christ.  All our joy is owing to the blood of Christ.  This must be the foundation of all that a church does.  Therefore, in our 4 functions as a church (Acts 2:42)- our worship of God (our up-reach), our learning and application of His Word (our down-reach), our loving one another in community  (our in-reach), and our involvement in the great commission of spreading the gospel (our out-reach)- the enjoyment of God’s glory as displayed in the cross of Jesus Christ is essential.

OUR MISSION

“What is our mission?”

“To make gospel-centered disciples with a passion for His glory who are making other gospel-centered disciples with a passion for His glory.”  (Matthew 28:19-20)

Scripture says to “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:19-20).  “And he said to them, ‘Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation’” (Mark 1:15).  That is the church’s mission: to make disciples who are making other disciples.  Therefore, our church is intentional on making disciples with a passion for His glory and growing in their convictions (beliefs), character (godliness), and competency (skills/abilities to minister).

OUR VISION…

“What will our church look like when we are accomplishing the mission?”

“A GOSPEL-CENTERED PEOPLE GROWING and GOING for the GLORY OF GOD”

“Why a ‘gospel-centered people’… ‘for the glory of God’?”

Why are we so focused on God’s glory?  And why do we want to be gospel-centered?  Today, as in every generation, it is stunning to watch the shift away from God as the all-satisfying gift of God’s love.  It is stunning how seldom God himself is proclaimed or received as the greatest gift of the gospel.  The Bible teaches that the best and final gift of God’s love is the enjoyment of Him alone (Psalm 27:4; Psalm 16:11).

And what makes all the promises of God good news is that they lead us to GOD!  “Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God” (1 Peter 3:18).  Everything in the gospel is meant to display God’s glory and remove every obstacle in him (such as his wrath) and in us (such as our rebellion) so that we can enjoy him forever.  God is the final and highest gift that makes the good news good.

But do we just believe the gospel to be saved to this enjoyment of God and then move on to more advanced principles in order to grow?  No.  The way we grow is from the continual re-discovery of the gospel so that every part of our life is in line with the gospel since it leads us to the enjoyment of God (Gal. 2:14).  The gospel is not the ABC’s to the Christianity, but the A to Z.  Why?  Because it is the power of God itself (Rom. 1:16), and the very light of the glory of God (2 Cor. 4:4,6).

Applying the gospel on our hearts allows us to behold the glory of Christ and keep a greater delight in his fellowship and deeper longing to see him.  This has its own liberating effect from the temptations of this world (Matt. 5:8) and begins changing us into the likeness of Christ.  Beholding is becoming (2 Cor. 3:18).   As we behold the glory of Christ in the gospel and treasure Him and Him alone, we come to see sin as repugnant and the grace of God as magnificent.  As Christ becomes the spiritual gaze of our hearts, our behavior changes that reflects more and more of the character of God and His holiness.

“Where am I to be GROWING for the GLORY OF GOD?”

We want you to be growing in our passion for Him as a worshipper of Christ, a family member of His church, a learner of His Word, and a missionary with the gospel.  In each area, we want to see you grow within your convictions (beliefs), character (godliness), and competency (skills/abilities).

“Where am I to be GOING for the GLORY OF GOD?”

To everyone everywhere!  Where ever we are is a mission field and missions exists where worship doesn’t!  This means we should be taking the gospel to our homes, city, region, and world (Deut. 6:4; Acts 1:8) by serving with mercy while sharing the message.

This is our vision, and by God’s grace, we will continue to strive towards it.  To God be the glory!
